LA CROSSE — Yates Center’s Remi Wagner finished the season with a ninth place finish at the State Sand Greens Tournament. He shot an 82 overall.
“He started a little shaky putting his drive out of bounds on his first hole and leaving several putts short to shoot a 43 on the front nine,” coach Kevin Barnes said. “Then on the back nine, things came together for him and he shot a four over par of 39.”
Wagner then went into a playoff because he was tied with Shayne Renken of Downs-Lakeside. Renken beat Wagner in the playoff hole.
“I am very proud how Remi played, he never got rattled on the front nine,” Barnes said. “He knew he had to pick his game up if he wanted to medal.”
